Important Technical Information Several changes have been introduced into TeleMagic NetClient since the manuals were submitted for publication. All significant changes affect TeleMagic Application Server. This sections should be reviewed by the system administrator prior to configuring the system. Rebuild Databases Before Installing TeleMagic NetClient If you are upgrading to V4.5 from an earlier version, a rebuild is performed automatically. If you are not certain that the rebuild was successfully performed, run a rebuild with the /UPGRADE parameter. If you are installing Enterprise for the first time, you must run a rebuild before installing TeleMagic NetClient. The NT-Novell Gateway Drive mapping at the server is not required for the connection to databases on the Novell network. Drive mapping is effectively established by Gateway Services for Novell. There is a maximum file lock in Novell when the client connects via LAN. This is set to 250 by default. The value can be set from 10 to 1000. It is recommended that you set yours as high as practical, 1000 if possible. To set the maximum file lock to 1000, enter the following at the Novell Server Console: set maximum file lock per connection = 1000 See your Novell documentation for more information on the maximum file lock setting. Server Operator A user needs to be logged on to the server only if clients will be connecting via LAN. If a user does need to be logged on to the server, the workstation User ID and Password must match their User ID and Password on the server. NT-NT Gateway If the server and databases are located on two different NT networks, clients will only be able to use the LAN option to connect. If the databases are installed on an NT network, it is recommended that the server be installed on the same network if possible. Drive Mapping The procedure for drive mapping has changed. Prior to establishing drive mapping, each installation of Enterprise that will be accessed by the server must be installed in a folder other than the root directory of their physical drive. For example, they could be installed in the path D:\APPS\TM4. Referring to the section in the manual on Drive Mapping (pages 9 and 10), step 5, rather than entering a UNC name, enter the path to the folder containing the Enterprise installation. Following the example, you would enter D:\APPS. ages 9 and 10), step 5, rather than entering a UNC name, enter the path to the folder containing the Enterprise installation. Following the example, you would enter D:\APPS. .
